Now he’s in the hospital and unable to move since he broke a lot of bones in the accident. He’s telling me to help him process his insurance and get a sr22 insurance form from his insurance company. What the heck’s a sr22 insurance form?

A sr22 insurance form isn’t actually a type of insurance. It’s just proof that you’re insured for liability damage. You’ll have no problems if your father signed up with an insurance company that provides a sr22 insurance form when he runs into problems like DUI. They’ll be the one to process it.
However, the possibility exists that your father’s insurance company doesn’t provide sr22 insurance forms, since only some insurance companies do so. That’s where you’re going to have a major headache.
If just in case your father’s insurance company doesn’t provide a sr22 insurance form, then you’re going to have to ask the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) how you’ll go about it. The probability is high that your father may be forced to sign up with a different insurance company that does provide a sr22 insurance form.
One last thing: don’t expect your insurance premiums to be cheap when your father has been ordered by a court to provide a sr22 insurance form. When you do get slapped by the court for one, which means your driver’s license was revoked for serious offenses, multiple minor offenses, or driving uninsured.
